Shhh. Don't tell anyone!
The Republicans are at it again with yet another secret endorsement convention. The Republicans from 16B will meet in secret this Saturday at in Becker. At stake is the GOP endorsement where 9 term incumbent and anti all things science champion and convicted wife threatener Mark Olson will face the ethically challenged former Secretary of State and the spouse of the author of the now famous anti dildo bill: Mary Kiffmeyer. There are 2 others running for the seat but neither are nuts enough to receive the GOP nod at this convention. I understand that Olson is pledging not to get beaten by a woman this year. Kiffmeyer and Olson agree on almost everything although Olson is more of a return to the 1600′s guy … Continue reading
Sherburne Citizen: Steve Andrews & Gail Kulick Jackson
The Sherburne Citizen has an article about the Senate District 16 Convention and the endorsements of Steve Andrews for District 16B and Gail Kulick Jackson for District 16A. I have previously covered the endorsement here and my thoughts on Mr. Andrews here. While I have yet to cover Gail Kulick Jackson, I did have the chance to speak with her when I was at the Steve Andrews House Party and found her to be both friendly and knowledgeable. Perhaps this time around she will be able to unseat one of the most anti-education former educators this state has ever seen. The Kulick Jackson money quote: During her turn at the podium, Jackson struck a John Travolta-like disco pose and told the convention that she had … Continue reading
Mark Olson & "Alternative Medicine"
Mark Olson, disgraced representative from House District 16B, recently sponsored a bill which would fund a study at the University of Minnesota on the effectiveness of “Alternative Medicine“. Without prior knowledge of Mr. Olson, one might look at such a study and find merit. Unfortunately, having knowledge of Mr. Olson should lead people to wonder what he means by the phrase “Alternative Medicine“. From the Bill: 1.5 Section 1. STUDY OF COMPLEMENTARY AND ALTERNATIVE HEALTH 1.6CARE PRACTICES.1.7(a) The commissioner of health in cooperation with the University of Minnesota 1.8medical research shall conduct a study of the effectiveness of alternative medicine 1.9approaches to the treatment of diseases and chronic conditions, including, but not limited 1.10to, the following: This is the man who claimed that drinking the … Continue reading
Mark Olson LTE: BEWARE Of Gays & Education
Mark Olson, disgraced representative from House District 16B, has a letter to the editor in the Sherburne Citizen this week. The crux of the letter is to inform local citizens of happenings at the Capitol. While it is laudable to keep people informed, when you read the letter you get the sense that Mr. Olson only concerns himself with the most extreme politics and ignores the boring but important governance that happens in the Capital. From the Sherburne Citizen: TO THE EDITOR: The following are just a few highlights covering the period since March 13. Last Friday marked the final committee deadline with just 25 legislative days remaining in the last regular session of this biennium. First, in the House Local Government Committee an amendment … Continue reading
Steve Andrews Wins DFL Endorsement In 16B
Congratulations to Steve Andrews, DFL candidate in House District 16B for getting the endorsement to run against Mary Kiffmeyer and Mark Olson this November. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Andrews a few months ago at an event he held in his home. He was gracious and friendly to everyone he met and left a wonderful impression on me as a man of principle and value that would both serve that district well and serve the people of Minnesota well. Since that event, I have seen Mr. Andrews at a few events I have attended and covered. Each and every time he has been welcoming and friendly. From the Press Release: Andrews: ‘Finding Common Ground Makes Us Stronger’ Andrews, who’s making his first bid … Continue reading
