Representative Peterson “It’s No Wonder Nobody Likes Congress Anymore”
Yesterday, as the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives moved the body into its August vacation, Representative Collin Peterson took to the floor to remind them that their work was not done. The leadership had failed to bring up a five year farm bill which had already passed the United States Senate on a bipartisan vote. Green Acres: A Case Study In Why A REPEAL IT Strategy Doesn’t Work…
We have heard it ad nauseam. REPEAL IT! It has become the mantra of the Republican Party on issues from Health Care Reform and Wall Street Reform all the way down to local Minnesota issues like Green Acres legislation passed by the DFL in the last couple legislative sessions. The problem with this strategy is that it sounds good while in the minority but once in the majority you have to actually govern and simple repeal makes for terrible public policy. During the heat of campaign 2010 the mantra of every local Republican was that Green Acres legislation passed by the DFL ought to be completely repealed. Steve Gottwalt Votes AGAINST Repealing Green Acres
In 2010, Steve Gottwalt campaigned in favor of repealing the changes made to Green Acres. In 2011, Steve Gottwalt voted once again to keep those changes.
