MN State Senator Dan Hall (R) Tweets Debunked Food Stamp Claim

Senator Dan Hall (R), who once claimed that Republicans and opponents of gay marriage are more patriotic than everyone else, tweeted the following today:   Now first, let’s point out that this man, Senator Hall, is a minister, former Christian school principal, and according to his website “founded and managed the Open Arms food shelf“. One wonders why he would be lamenting that people are receiving food assistance or which version of Christianity he practices that teaches lamentation of feeding the poor. Equally as concerning is that the article he linked to and the quote he tweeted were found to be false more than a week ago. First, by Politifact when former Congressman Allen West tried to claim the same thing. You can read the … Continue reading

“No Gay Gene”-Born This Way Is A Lie Says GOP Lawmaker

Reporting and video courtesy of The Uptake: MN State Rep. Glenn Gruenhagen, R-Glencoe, says the “born that way” explanation of homosexuality is a lie, pointing to research that concluded there is “no gay genome.” He made the comments as Republican lawmakers vowed to fight a bill making same-sex marriage legal in Minnesota. Voters in Minnesota recently defeated a Republican authored constitutional amendment that would have banned gay marriage. The latest research into a “gay gene” contradicts what Gruenhagen said. Research is focused on epigenetics, throwaway DNA that triggers hormone production in fetuses. Although scientists haven’t found a “gay gene,” they haven’t found a straight one either. This isn’t the first time Gruenhagen has made up facts. A few years ago, he claimed alcoholism and drug … Continue reading

Vern Swedin, Republican Candidate For MN Senate, Brags About Making Teenager Cry

You can read the background from Bluestem Prairie of MN State Senate candidate, Vern Swedin, who hilariously calls Democrats RATS and bragged about the time he made a young girl cry but I wanted to quickly share the video posted by the local newspaper, Owatonna Peoples Press: Let’s lighten up a little here, people. If we can’t celebrate our own intellectual brilliance by telling people about the time we made a young person cry without everybody getting all offended about it, then America really has lost its way. Making unsuspecting young victims cry while we feel morally and intellectually superior is what this country was built on, right? Don’t take that away from Vern Swedin! Apparently he needs it…
