Recounting the MN US Senate Recount
Great video from The Uptake of a panel of those most closely involved in the Minnesota US Senate recount discussing the process. Continue reading
Isn't That An NKOTB Song?
I try to avoid writing about the nauseating Senate recount because frankly, I don’t really care about either of these two. However, I couldn’t help myself when I noticed this post in True North titled “Norm Hanging Tough“. All I can think is, wasn’t that a New Kids on the Block song? Has this become the theme song for the Coleman campaign?

Inaugural Activities From 8th Grade…
I pondered for some time what to do in my classroom for Inauguration Day. It didn’t seem appropriate for me to simply turn the television on, sit back, and let a day slip through my fingers without some greater lesson being taught. So, as a class we began by examining the oath of office as laid out in the Constitution: Oath of Office “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Actually, after today my students probably knew the wording of the oath better than Chief Justice John Roberts (*wink*). As a class we took the … Continue reading

Dear Dr. King: We Arrived…
It has taken us an extra 40 years and we may not have reached that promised land of which you spoke but we have arrived at the mountaintop. We too can see the promised land and with a little luck and your continued guidance the dream will be fulfilled… I took the ‘I Have a Dream‘ speech and plugged it into wordle: Let us all hope that our new President can take up the mantle of Dr. King and lead this nation further down the road to the promised land.
25 Precincts With More Votes Than Voters?
Edit: Original title had counties instead of precincts. I meant precincts! The Wall Street Journal has an opinion up about the Franken/Coleman recount battle. Frankly, I’ve accepted the reality that Al Franken is our next United States Senator, unless someone pulls up to the Secretary of State office within the next week with 950,000 Dean Barkley ballots… I’ve seen a few Facebook statuses this morning that allude to 25 Minnesota Counties that have more votes than registered voters. No doubt this came from the WSJ opinion piece and has been openly embraced by Hannity, Druggy Limbaugh, and other right wing blowhards. This helps explain why more than 25 precincts now have more ballots than voters who signed into to vote. By some estimates this double … Continue reading
