On Black History, Black Panthers, Education, And A Minnesota Republican
A few weeks back in the midst of Black History Month, a poem was read over the public address system at East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minnesota. The poem, “A Black Child’s Pledge,” was first published by the Black Panthers in 1968. Well, this prompted vice-chair of the Minnesota Republican Party, Kelly Fenton to take to twitter and the local newspaper to express her outrage that our schools were learning about all aspects of black history and demanding we only study those black people acceptable to her and perhaps other white people: Not long after the poem was read, Twitter comments began bubbling up from Woodbury community members, including Kelly Fenton, whose son attends East Ridge. “There are lot better examples and things that … Continue reading

Gary Gross Is Mad At Craig Westover For Not Supporting Guy Gary Promised He Wouldn’t Support
This is just too hilarious and awesome not to post… Let’s set the stage here. Several months ago, local conservative Gary Gross was screaming from the rooftops about the terrible no good awful Mitt Romney and declaring that he would never “lift a finger” for that “Alinskyite liar“. Around that same time he was expressing his belief that if Mitt Romney were to become the nominee that the choice between he and Obama would no longer matter because, according to Gross, Romney was a “secretive Alinsky progressive“… Hey, you have to respect a guy with such strong principles, right? RIGHT? Hang on a moment… Fast forward to today and we find Gary Gross screaming from the rooftops about how that damned Craig Westover … Continue reading
Labor Day Tweet Of The Day: Today We Celebrate The Business Man!
Typically today we celebrate the working men and women of this country. You know, those everyday working people who have built this country with their hands and their sweat. Unfortunately, the Republican Party doesn’t see it that way anymore. For Republican Majority Leader, Eric Cantor, the meaning of Labor Day is to celebrate the businessmen of this country. Sorry workers, the Republican Party just took away your one and only holiday…

MN Senator Dan Hall Tweet Implies Minnesotans Voting NO On Anti-Marriage Amendment Are NOT Patriotic
MN State Senator Dan Hall (R) posted a tweet today asking the question, “Why is it you never see an American flag where you see a Vote No for the Mn Marriage Amendment sign?” Accompanying the tweet is an image of one house with a flag flying in front with what appears to be houses on either side with orange Minnesotans United for all Families ‘Vote NO’ signs in front of them. It is unclear whether they have flags or not based on the image but according to the Senator, they do not. The implication in the tweet is clear that those people who oppose the amendment are not as patriotic as those people who support it although we have no evidence to show that … Continue reading

Dear Teachers, Conservatives Think You Are The Enemy…
Conservatives really do hate it when 3.2 million teachers across the country organize to advocate for public education. In fact, teachers, they think you are the “enemy”: Just keep that in mind when wondering what party to vote for…
