Brian Johnson For 15B Pimary Election Press Release

I received a press release today from MN House of Representatives candidate, Brian Johnson (DFL), reminding everyone in the newly drawn 15B MN House District to vote in the primaries tomorrow as he faces a perennial candidate… On Tuesday, August 14, 2012, there will be a DFL primary for the Minnesota House of Representatives, District 15B. As a result of the recent legislative redistricting there is not an incumbent candidate within District 15B, which includes portions of Wright, Morrison, Benton and Sherburne counties and cities of Becker, Clearwater, Foley, Rice, and many others. Brian Johnson is the DFL endorsed candidate.  He lives in Clearwater Township with his wife, Jenny.  He enjoys fishing, hunting, and composing and playing music.  Brian owns his own small business, B. … Continue reading

BREAKING: Brian Johnson (DFL) Running For Newly Formed House District 15B

Brian Johnson, a lawyer and small business owner in Clearwater, sent out an email today to delegates (I happen to be one of those delegates) attending the DFL convention for the newly formed MN House District 15B. The email introduced the candidate and hinted at the broader campaign theme for 2012:   I believe that one way to accomplish these goals is to work together to protect the middle class.  In recent years, Minnesotans have witnessed an inefficient and dysfunctional state legislature. I am motivated, energized and dedicated to working vigorously for Minnesotans.  The message of “working together to accomplish Minnesota goals” will be at the forefront of my campaign. To my knowledge, there are no other candidates seeking the endorsement so unless I am … Continue reading

Gross Inaccuracies: HOW DARE YOU QUESTION THESE POLITICIANS!

Local layabout, Gary Gross, took to his blog today to register his displeasure over a recent town hall meeting hosted by Representatives Banaian & Gottwalt and Senator Pederson. The purpose of these meetings, apparently, is to only hear from those members of the community with whom the elected officials agree. Well, at least according to Gary Gross. Any departure from this formula can only be the result of mean old union thugs who come and demand answers. It really is a sad state of affairs here in ‘merica with these unionish people and their questions. It was OUTRAGEOUS, Gross says, that people (who happen to be in a union) came out to attend this town hall meeting. Can YOU believe they even asked QUESTIONS? The … Continue reading

Will Representative Banaian Rhetoric Match His Voting Record?

Representative King Banaian (R), in a radio interview with AM1240, sounds unwilling to govern by constitutional amendment: The Republican controlled House and Senate are considering putting a number of constitutional amendment questions on the November ballot.  However, Republican Representative King Banaian of St. Cloud is not so sure that’s a good idea. [emphasis mine] That sounds good but Banaian has already voted to govern by constitutional amendment once through the marriage discrimination amendment. We will have to wait and see if he really believes his own rhetoric or if he says one thing at home for his constituents and then votes another way at the Capitol. Unfortunately, in my experience with King, he talks a good game about helping his constituents but when action is … Continue reading

Gross Inaccuracies: Government Jobs Are For CONSERVATIVES ONLY!

For some time now this blog has been following the highly amusing story of conservative activist and local layabout, Gary Gross, trying desperately to convince his readers that his friend, a conservative elected official and public university professor, Jeff Johnson deserves his government job at Saint Cloud State University. You see, despite all his other writings about how the super evil menace of government should be cut to the bone, Gross feels that perhaps an exemption should be made for Mr. Johnson because frankly he is super awesome and his government job is useful to the community [disclaimer: the aforementioned statement about the super awesomeness of Mr. Johnson's government job should in no way indicate that maybe government can create jobs]. [on a side note, … Continue reading
