In our last episode, titled ‘The On Again/Off Again Love Affair Of Steve Gottwalt & Obamacare‘ we found Gottwalt trying reclaim health exchanges from Governor Dayton. At the end of that post, I wondered how long Gottwalt would continue to love the Obamacare with the tea party breathing down his neck. Well, this article provides a glimmer of an answer. Of course, he explains, Obamacare is an evil no good very bad thing but this ONE part of Obamacare is maybe sort of not so bad:
St. Cloud Republican, Rep. Steve Gottwalt, who chairs the House Health And Human Services Reform Committee went so far as to say that Republicans need to come up with their own kind of exchange.
“An exchange as a model is innocent. Don’t slam it because Obama-care adopted it,” Gottwalt said.
“Is it possible that we could create an exchange that would enhance consumer choice and a private marketplace and not be a government-command and control avenue? I think that is possible.”
Threading the needle, Gottwalt tries to both hate Obamacare and love the things found in Obamacare. Well, crazed OBAMACARE opponent, Mary Franson, is having nothing of it! If it’s in the OBAMACARE that makes it evil and it must be smote:

One has to wonder how Steve Gottwalt will ever be able to get a conservative leaning Obamacarish health exchange through with the likes of Mary Franson on his committee. If he doesn’t getting anything passed through his committee, does that mean Mary Franson is really the chair and Steve Gottwalt merely the dashing figurehead? Regardless, the saga continues for Steve as he desperately tries to blend the delusional rantings of Mary Franson with the seemingly sensible idea of health exchanges.
