Press Release: Public Employees Are Not The Enemy
It really has come to this. That we have to even make this statement shows the sorry state of affairs for the state and the country. From Representative Michael Nelson (DFL) in District 46A: Far too often, people simply take our public employees and their hard work for granted, but when you stop to think about it, their work touches our lives every day. When you wake up in the morning the water you drink is tested by a public employee to ensure it’s free of contaminants. You drive to work on roads plowed and salted by snowplow drivers employed by the state, cities, and counties, while your children sit in a classroom taught by a public school teacher. When you struggle to drive home … Continue reading
Press Release: Hosch Takes Oath Of Office
The only DFL Representative in all the 6th Congressional District, Larry Hosch, took the oath of office today and vowed to find common ground on the issues facing Minnesota. Specifically, solving the $6.2 billion deficit: Hosch said the economy and state budget will be the most important issues heading into the session. “Supporting local businesses and strengthening our schools are the best way to grow jobs and our economy,” said Hosch. “We need to partner with job providers and support education so that we can keep strong what has always made Minnesota a great place to live, work and raise a family.” With the 2011 session comes considerable change including a new Governor and majorities in the State Legislature. Hosch said he is hopeful common … Continue reading

Press Release: “Hosch says Early MA will create jobs, improve health care system”
Representative Larry Hosch (DFL), who now has the interesting distinction of being the ONLY DFLer in the entire 6th District, sent out a press release praising the decision of incoming Governor Dayton to enroll in Early MA. The Press Release: St. Paul, Minnesota – The recount has concluded and Governor Dayton is set to take over on January 3rd. As one of his first actions as Governor, Dayton has signaled he will enroll Minnesota in early MA, infusing about $1.2 billion in federal dollars into local hospitals and care providers to cover thousands of Minnesotans currently served under General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC). State Rep. Larry Hosch (DFL – St. Joseph) said the news is welcome to the St. Cloud regional economy. “Early MA has … Continue reading
Michele Bachmann Doesn’t Like Black People Getting Paid Back Money They Deserved
African American farmers have been discriminated against by the Department of Agriculture for years and just recently saw their hope repayment improve as the Senate passed a settlement bill. Talking Points Memo reports that the measure was paid for by cutting other areas of the budget: The Senate was finally able to pass the settlement, as well as one for American Indians whose land trusts were mismanaged by the government, because Democrats agreed to cut the money from other programs instead of paying with deficit spending. Among them are $2 billion from Customs fees, $562 million from surplus from WIC, a food stamps program for women and children, and an expected $2.7 billion saved by allowing the Treasury to recoup overpaid insurance claims from tax … Continue reading
